In preparation of opening day, snow guns at several US ski resorts have been hard at work these past few weeks. One resort officially kicks off the Colorado ski season this weekend!
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (A-Basin) announced on Tuesday that the resort will open for the 2017-18 ski season on Friday, October 13, 2017. The resort received about 2 feet of natural snow in recent days.
“Mother Nature has been kind to the Basin,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin Chief Operating Officer. “It’s exciting to kick off the ski season earlier than usual, and welcome winter back to Colorado.”
The Black Mountain Express lift will start spinning at 9:00 AM, giving skiers and snowboarders access to the intermediate High Noon trail. Mountain operations will continue to make snow as weather permits with the goal of opening additional terrain.
