About a week ago, South America got its first big dump of the 2017 season. A May storm dropped about two feet of snow on Chilean resorts: Ski Portillo, Valle Nevado, El Colorado, and La Parva. Some resorts have announced an early opening, almost a month ahead of the typical mid-June opening.
