With New Year’s Day right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about resolutions. Haven’t nailed yours down yet? You’re not alone!
Each year, we all try to select resolutions that make us healthier, happier, and an all-around better person. This year, why not choose one that covers all the bases?
When you resolve to ski, you’re challenging yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. Plus, when you choose goals around something you actually LOVE doing, it will be way easier to achieve them.
Here are four ways to do it:
1. Resolve to ski or ride more.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been doing it since you were three, make this the year you ski or ride more.
Plan more trips to your favorite ski area, and maybe even try a few new ones that you’ve never been to before. If possible, make a destination trip happen. When you’re out on the slopes, squeeze in more laps during the day and hit the more challenging terrain. Just like any other sport, the more you do it, the better you become!
2. Resolve to spread the stoke.
Friends don’t let friends miss out on the thrill of skiing or riding.
Have a buddy who’s never tried it before? Share your passion for the sport and take them along with you too! January is Learn to Ski month, when many resorts offer their best prices on beginner’s packages and learning programs, making it easy for your friend to get started. Ultimately, skiing and riding is about having as much fun as possible, and what’s more fun than being surrounded by your buddies while you cruise down your favorite runs?
3. Resolve to try something new.
Alpine skiing, cross country skiing, heliskiing, backcountry skiing, snowboarding, snow skating, tubing – The list of ways to slide down the face of a mountain goes on and on!
This year, take a step out of your comfort zone and trying something new. Not only will it be a fun challenge, but you’ll also find yourself becoming better at your primary sport as you learn to master different skills and ways of balancing.
Note: Many of these activities require proper training, safety gear, and experience with guides. We do not recommend trying them without doing your homework first.
4. Resolve to get to the mountain for less.

Is there any information on your blog about how to conquer the fear of skiing icy conditions? I’ve only been skiing for a few years, just recently graduated to blue runs, but love powder skiing. Whenever I’m on ice, on the east coast, I have zero confidence out there.
