Tioga Pass is the highest highway pass in the Sierra Nevada. It’s also the most direct route from Mammoth Lakes to parts of Northern California. In winter, the pass closes due to heavy snowfall, extending skiers’ and snowboarders’ travel route by a few hours, at the very least.

Following a blockbuster season, it’ll be a while before you can can drive through Yosemite National Park via Tioga Pass again. This drone footage from Caltrans District 9 shows how beautiful the snowfall looks up there.

“Crews are working to clear Highway 120, which is closed from Crane Flat to Tioga Pass due to heavy snow. Glacier Point Road is also closed. There is no estimated opening date for either road, but they are usually reopened by June.”
